Bio

This is the character journal for my version of the character A from the "Death Note" spin-off novel Another Note. A, or in my case, Aiden "After" Walker.

A's Canon Information:

A was first in line to succeed L, right before B. However, the pressures of being L's successor brought him to commit suicide, leaving B as the top successor.

After's Appearance:

From his point in time, After is sixteen years old, borderline seventeen. He has messy, reddish-brown hair, slightly longer than Near and Matt's, but shorter than Mello's. His eyes are blue-green, hidden behind glasses, not like Matt's goggles. They're actual glasses, similar to those of Teru Mikami. He tends to dress in earthy tones of brown, tan, or green, and his clothing is often torn. If he can help it, he doesn't wear shoes. His feet are usually filthy.

After's Personality / Character Summary:

A was extremely sweet, but at the same time, awkward. He had a few friends, but no one terribly close. He was always a little stumbling, a little dorky. He loved animals, but he was VICIOUS about his studies. Most of the time he'd be frantically reading anything he could, trying desperately to learn more and more, to know more than everyone else. He played mostly by himself, kind of like Near but outside. His fondness for animals made him the kind of child to take in any injured birds he found outside. Similar to B's love for strawberry jam, A has a taste for honey, acquired through his experiences outside. It was a painful experience, but now, he adores the sweet substance.

Time at Wammy's House wore on him. Slowly, slowly, After became a recluse. His studies became more frantic, more panicked. He craved more information, and little by little, he stopped going outside. That was the pressure of being L's successor working on him.

A few weeks after he stopped going outside entirely, he committed suicide by purposely overdosing on sleeping pills, leaving B as L's immediate successor.

After's Relationship with B:

Because Backup could see After's lifespan simply by looking at him, he knew the boy would die soon and was therefore not really a threat. Their rivalry was based more around After's minor paranoia than anything else, and After only became anxious of Backup during his last few weeks alive, when he succumbed to the pressure of succeeding L. Otherwise, Backup was just another Wammy's House student to him, and his admiration for his rival is contradicted by the rivalry itself.
